Man Who Killed Police Dog Could Face Up To 57 Years In Prison

Police officers are known to put their lives on the line when it comes to fulfilling their duties. Police dogs are just the same, but many of them don’t get to retire to happy homes at the end of the day. A man was arrested for shooting a Canton Police Department canine several times, aggravated robbery, two counts of felonious assault, and breaking and entering.

Jethro the German Shepherd police dog was taken to emergency services after the shooting took place, and it seemed he was on his way to recovery. However, he took a turn for the worst and did not survive the procedure. The prosecutor of the case is hoping to have Jethro treated as a law enforcement officer in hopes of adding some more time to the man’s sentence. Although, that does make the case a bit hypocritical, given that police officers shoot dogs on homeowners’ properties all the time.
